How Do We Make Invitation Card Lohri

ELEVEN Loneliness - Richard Yates

Published originally in 1962, this collection of 'short stories' is considered one of the masterpieces of American fiction of the late twentieth century. II NewYorkTimes "called it" the New York equivalent of "Dubliners" Joyce, Kurt Vonnegut and "the best collection of short stories ever published by an American author." The lives 'normal' secretaries of Manhattan and Brooklyn schoolteacher, of potential novelists frustrated dreamers of taxi drivers, soldiers and kids disillusioned misfits, Yates creates a memorable mosaic that reveals all the shadows of the American dream at the height of his (alleged) splendor, but "Eleven solitudes" is not only the masterful, merciless portrait of an era: the accuracy of the dialogues, the infallible rhythm, attention to detail, the essence of writing the stories of these characters give an intensity that makes painfully universal and timeless.
